How is upcycling better than recycling?

There are numerous ways of saving the planet through sustainable means. Two such remarkable procedures are Upcycling and Recycling. 

On one hand where upcycling involves creatively using the waste material to create a new product of similar or of higher strata, Recycling incorporates reprocessing waste material to create a product which is normally less valuable.

As compared to recycling, upcycling uses very little energy. Upcycling is a part of circular economy where the wastage is usually not thrown away but in case of recycling, the process involves limited cycles which eventually leans to the waste getting discarded.
