We are familiar to the fact that pollution and harmful impact of textiles contribute to a large part of the economy and their deadly consequences are a matter of concern for all environmentalists, textile scientists and other professionals related to this field.

But in this world of unsustainable textiles made from synthetic fibres, there are a range of textiles and fabrics which are constructed from eco-friendly, up-cycled or recycled raw materials. This not only diminishes the drastic effects of their production process but also ensures sustainable fibre properties along with a holistic environmental approach. These fabrics also play a part in waste reduction, water conservation, lowering levels of emissions as well as soil regeneration. Although, not one single fabric has been discovered yet that is fully sustainable.

As we all know, the term- sustainable fabrics is usually used to refer to a group of environmentally friendly materials and a lot of fabrics have acquired the "sustainable" label for various reasons. But as the textile industry is gradually heading towards sustainability, it is an on-going process and lot is yet to be achieved. Thus, no one fabric can do it all. But let’s hope for a better and responsible future which is targeted towards an eco-friendly production and environmentally growing practices. In such a manner, better fabrics can help to create a more transparent fashion industry.
