1) Sustainable fabrics over synthetic ones: Synthetic fibres like polyester, acrylic and spandex cause micro plastics pollution and mostly non-biodegradable. Some textile brands makers are therefore opting for recycled plastics, which are definitely a better thing, but those fabrics still contribute to the micro plastic problem. But anyway it’s better to buy items made from recycled fabrics such as the ones constructed from dead stock fabrics, recycled cotton and recycled blends. Go for more environmentally friendly fabrics. Sadly, natural fabrics also have an effect on environment. There are no natural fibres that are entirely sustainable. Linen, viscose, alpaca and hemp are better options.

2) Go thrifting: Look for second hand clothing shops – both online and offline. If you are on your budget and a bit concerned about the pocket pinch, then this is literally the best option. You will get hold of some amazing apparels here. Just wash them properly, iron and you are good to go. Also, you can borrow your cousin’s, sibling’s or friend’s clothes and add them to your wardrobe.

3) Reduce your consumption: Take out a little more time from your busy schedule and look through your cupboard. You will loads of unused garments which might make you ponder upon the fact that you are already in a possession of too many apparels. Thus, always think before purchasing. Just lend a second thought before investing on any new garment.

4) Opt for more classic clothing as compared to trendy ones: Choose garments with a classic appeal that can be preserved and worn year after year i.e. something that won’t go out of trends. Apparels in neutral shades, natural fabrics and timeless silhouettes will do justice to your wardrobe. Also, focus a little on the details of the clothing. Does the fabric feel noticeably thin? Is the textile a mixture of fibres that will quickly tear or lose its shape? If so, it’s not worth investing.
